What do you do?
I am the Chief Technology Officer of a startup and I do everything technical – from designing the system to installing and maintaining the production environment.
What mobile device do you use?
I’m a proud owner of a Samsung Galaxy 4. And I love it!
Best way to stay on top of email?
Check it all the time. Too much, I think. I learned to be more succinct than I used to, especially with people I talk to a lot.
Top five applications/programs?
Well, I would start with Skype – that’s how I talk to my developers, all offshore.
Then, I guess my best friend is Visual Studio, since we are a .Net shop, and I love Google+ Hangouts because of it’s versatility – I can chat with someone, message them and see them while I’m on the road (if I’m not driving).
What is your best time-saving trick?
To save time, I cut out what is not important. At work, that means making lists and prioritizing the work at the beginning of the day, or the week. And I always scramble. I find that working under pressure makes me produce exponentially than if I ‘take my time’.
Favourite productivity tool?
I put EVERYTHING on my calendar. If it’s not there, it’s not getting done.
One non-tech thing you can't live without?
Can I name 3? That’ll be coffee, chocolate and Soda Water.
Structure of your typical day? How do you divide your time?
My work day is pretty hectic. I start talking to my developers sometimes at 5 am and finish work late in the afternoon (or evening). Client meetings take precedence over everything else during the day, and then I get things done in between and after 8 pm. And I try to spend as much time with my kids as I can.
What does your workspace look like?
I have lots of drawings made by my kids. And my laptop.
