Breanne Cram

Founder of Bre Creative & Developer at Prinova

What do you do?

I have a full time day job as a Developer at Prinova, a Toronto based software company – where I have the privilege of working from home. I also run a local children’s entertainment company called Bre Creative, which currently has 10 staff members. We provide entertainment and balloon décor for birthday parties, special events and corporate functions. I am also a freelance artist, graphic/web designer and social media manager.

What mobile device do you use?

Samsung Galaxy Note II – I love my phone, especially how its Google based. It keeps me connected, organized and on time. It’s big, bright and a conversation starter! I could not live without my mobile device – it is fully synced with my life.

Best way to stay on top of email?

I use Gmail for all of my personal and business email – I’m a big fan of flagging/starring my emails so that I can easily see what I need to follow up on.

Top five applications/programs?

Freshbooks – cloud-based business accounting, so much easier than paper ledgers!

DropBox – fast, easy way to share large files, and to back up the photos on my phone.

Google Calendar – great to keep organized with appointments, bookings and tasks. Easy to sync with my mobile device.

Songza – I use this app from the minute I wake up, until the minute I go to sleep. Great selection of music play lists for all genres to match your mood and the time of day.

Sprout Social – easy way to manage multiple social media accounts – for my own business and for clients. Excellent analytics, and I love the ability to be able to search for relevant keywords used locally.

What is your best time-saving trick?

I always use my Google calendar to keep track of everything I need to accomplish in a day. I can easily move tasks around in order to prioritize what I need to do. I also write out a daily time schedule of what I need to accomplish throughout the day. Having a plan is the key component to being able to get everything done, and avoid getting stuck in a trap of procrastination.

Favourite productivity tool?

I just look back into my Google calendar and my notebook to see all of my tasks and to-do lists checked off. This is a great motivation to see that I’m on track, and to really see how much I have accomplished.

One non-tech thing you can't live without?

My family – I try to make each day special and memorable. At the end of the day, they are the reason for everything that I do.

Structure of your typical day? How do you divide your time?

I have to be very structured to be able to accomplish everything that I do on a daily basis.

During the week I work 9am – 5pm for Prinova – consulting, designing and coding. After work I unplug and spend quality family time with my significant other JR, my daughter Ruby and my Boston Terrier named Tuesday. Evenings are usually spent doing admin work for Bre Creative, or working on a new project. On the weekends you can find me clowning around at a variety of different community/special/corporate events, or birthday parties.

What does your workspace look like?

My country/modern inspired at-home office is amazing. It has everything from filing cabinets to an overhead project, oh and can’t forget my antique drafting table that I am totally in love with. In the summer though – I will be lounging on my back deck, soaking up the sun and getting a laptop tan on my legs!
